Justin Timberlake - Like I Love You (Motez Edit) [mp3]

JT gets sped up and slowed down at the same time… with sexy results.

Sidebar: the original version of this song is eleven years old.

‘The Chronic’ 20 Years Later: An Audio Document Of The L.A. Riots
Posting this because it neatly ties into the whole “iconic albums hitting decade/multi-decade milestones in 2013” theme I blogged about yesterday. Also, because, c’mon, The Chronic was great.
With that said, I think NPR is making an impossible stretch by arguing that The Chronic was an artistic response to the Rodney King riots. Yes, soundbites of documentary footage taken during the riots were used as an intro to one song on the album, but they were used in such a generic context those clips could have been from any source.
If you wanted to write a piece about a hip hop album that was a direct response to the LA riots, why not reference The Predator?

R. KELLY’S “IGNITION (REMIX)” WAS RELEASED 10 YEARS AGO TODAY

IT’S BEEN A WILD RIDE

Toot toot, beep beep.

This gives me more feelings than that BSS thing I reblogged last night.

I had actually thought Ignition came out over 10 years ago so I feel young right now. Gonna wear my Ignition necklace in celebration.

Oh god, that makes sense. SENIOR YEAR OF HIGH SCHOOL. Drinking Malibu in someone’s garage. OH GOD.

It seems like there are so many iconic songs and albums hitting decade/multi-decade milestones in 2013. I’m gonna start tracking and tagging with a “getting old" tag just so I can be perpetually reminded that life is fleeting and we’ll all soon be dead.

20 YEARS AGO TODAY |1/19/93| Snow released his debut album, 12 Inches of Snow, on East West Records.

It’s stuff like this that reminds me that time is fleeting and, goddammit, we’re all getting old.
